Dental Insurance Verification Specialist | Virtual Assistant

Job Overview:

In this role, you will use our insurance eligibility software to verify patient insurance daily. This includes making calls or logging into portals to confirm active coverage and obtaining detailed insurance breakdowns for new patients. You will also check for discrepancies in procedure records, update patient appointment data weekly, and perform data entry of payment information into Excel. Additional tasks may be added to complete a full 40-hour workweek.

Tasks required:

  • Daily Insurance Verification: Utilize our insurance eligibility software to identify patients requiring verification. This involves making phone calls or logging into insurance company portals to confirm active insurance coverage.
  • New Patient Insurance Breakdown: Collect and document detailed insurance information for all new patients, approximately 60-80 per month, by directly contacting insurance companies and speaking with representatives.
  • Accuracy Check: Daily review and verification of procedure records, ensuring that procedures marked as complete in the ledger match clinical chart notes, and that claims have been properly submitted to insurance.
  • Weekly Reporting: Perform quick tasks such as updating a Google Sheet with the number of completed new patient appointments and the future schedule of new patients.
  • Payment Data Entry: Organize payment information from insurance companies, patient payments, and third-party payments into a pre-made Excel template. This task is performed on a daily or weekly basis, depending on the volume.
  • Additional Tasks: As the role evolves, additional responsibilities may be added to fill a 40-hour workweek.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Open Dental (preferred) or Dentrix electronic health record software

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Insurance Verification Specialist
  • Experience with dental insurance breakdowns.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in speaking with insurance representatives
  • Proficiency in data entry and using Excel
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks daily and weekly
  • Ability to work efficiently and stay on task
  • Open communication and quick accessibility during working hours
  • Stable internet connection
